DIY Easter Basket for Babies

This is my daughter’s first Easter. She will be 9 months at Easter and getting stuff for a little baby is usually hard to find one pre-made. Making one yourself is not only easy, it is also much better since you can control what goes in it. Shoot, I will likely do this for every Easter versus buying the pre-made ones (we will see though). Our family is religious and celebrate that aspect of it, but a little Easter bunny fun is always appreciated / enjoyable.

For Leia’s Easter basket this year, I thought about things that are age appropriate that also grows with her a bit. I wanted things she could get use out of for awhile. Being practical and cost effective is part of being a good mom.

For us, we love books and reading to our daughter, I knew we had to include at least one book. I picked up the Llama Llama Easter Egg board book for her to enjoy and it was ‘Easter/Spring’ related. I am also throwing in another board book, ‘Big Kid Bed‘ since it is something we will be able to read to her for awhile and help prepare her for that transition one day. It was also on sale for $4 at Target (so, that was a bonus buy).

Toys. Of course I had to include some toys/activities for her Easter basket… I picked up the Skip Hop Bath Time Buckets, Disney Princess Little People Set, Melissa and Doug Wooden Puzzle, two little stuffed animals from the Dollar Tree (duck and pink bunny), and a hand-crocheted pink and white unicorn animal. All of these are things I know my daughter will love and get some use out of for awhile. Several of these items are marked for toddler-aged children, but I know my daughter and what she can handle (under supervision). Take that into consideration when prepping your child’s Easter basket.

Snacks. Since Leia cannot have any candy (or shouldn’t have), I picked up some treats for her that are more age appropriate. She absolutely love the Gerber Yogurt Melts (I got her two different flavors), Gerber puff canister, and some baby Goldfish Crackers. She hasn’t tried those yet, but I know she will love them.

Basket. This was hard because I, of course, had to spend money to get something cute and girly girl. I could have just gotten a storage basket, which would have been cheaper and something I could re-purpose. We ended up buying a pink tutu Easter basket from Target. We figured she could use it to store a few of her toys in, put Easter eggs in and/or reuse next year. It is a super cute basket (even though it should be a little larger ;-)).

To end, we got her a cute pair of girly bunny ears. These are more for us to enjoy her cuteness than they are for her, haha. Target has some adorable ones in person. You have to go check them out. Amazon and Etsy also carries really adorable ones. We had to use them to take a precious picture of her playing with some empty Easter eggs. I try to take a ‘themed’ photo every month for my Facebook cover. These made this month’s extra special.

Miscellaneous items I found were scented bath bombs (safe for children), Disney Princess Bandaids, bath time paint and Bubbles. What baby doesn’t love bubbles? I thought these were great additions to her basket..

Clothes are always a good gift idea. If Leia didn’t already have a ton of clothes, I would have picked her up some. Just try and be creative and unique to your child. Think of things they need, things they would enjoy for awhile, and keep to a budget (if you need to). It is really fun thinking these things out and putting the ‘baskets’ together.

If you’ve DIY’d your own Easter baskets (for kids of any age), feel free to share some ideas that you have used.
