Visiting the Cherry Blossoms in DC

Over the past couple of days, my family (and some extended family), took a trip up north to visit DC. This week marked peak bloom for the Cherry Blossoms there. Visiting the Cherry Blossoms is one of my favorite ‘Spring’ activities. They are just so beautiful.

Unfortunately, the day we decided to visit them, it was COLD & rainy. We still made the most of it though. We got to take Leia on her first ‘official’ Metro ride, we walked the National Mall and took some photos by the Cherry Blossoms.

We weren’t expecting the wind and chill, that’s for sure. Luckily, we brought Leia some layers and a hat. Her little nose and cheeks were getting red. We ended up leaving a little earlier than if the weather had been nicer.

All in all, Leia did quite well visiting the Cherry Blossoms. Patrick baby wore her with his Mission Critical Baby Carrier during our long walking periods and metro rides.

I must say, make sure to bring snacks and a sippy cup with you (on all trips). Leia did well, but she did get a little ‘hangry’ while out and about. She’s really into Veggie Straws right now. Those work great in the baby snack cups.

We’ve learned with Leia she needs to have something to play with at this stage. She’s very squirmy and so curious about everything. We get alot of use out of those straps with clips. She likes to throw things on the ground and those things are a life saver for this curiosity stage.

When you head out with your baby, pack light, but make smart choices! You’ll enjoy your trip just like our little family.
